Obama Drops Truthbomb, Prohibitionists Poop Pants

Prohibitionists are crapping themselves in disgust, in response to a recent interview President Obama gave wherein he stated that cannabis was safer than alcohol and that prohibition is unscientific and unjust. Uh oh! We all know that those prohibitionists are terribly allergic to the truth. They have built careers on fighting weed and have held a dynastic stranglehold on federal marijuana policy for decades. Of course, they are in panic-mode when the leader of the free world utters something contrary to their narrative.

Chairman of Project SAM and easily the most disappointing Kennedy, Patrick J. Kennedy, issued a statement in response to Obama’s truth bomb, “We take issue with the President’s comparisons between marijuana and alcohol.” In true Sabetine fashion, however, P.J. Kennedy does not, in fact, iterate why they take issue with the President’s words. Kennedy’s closest utterance of explanation reads, “two wrongs don’t make a right: just because our already legal drugs may have very dangerous impacts on society it does not mean that other drugs should follow the same path.”

To me, then, it seems that Project SAM and it’s pasty hand-puppet leadership, need to expand their mission statement to include alcohol. I mean, at least if they were trying to get all dangerous substances prohibited, we could call them consistent and partially respect their intentions. But that half-assed reactionary prose from Kennedy pretty much illustrates that they don’t give a shit about anything but putting weed back into the black market.

We can infer from Kennedy’s statement that he considers alcohol a “wrong” on par with cannabis, yet we don’t see him clambering for camera time to argue against alcohol. That is probably because the glass of Scotch he has before bedtime is something he values and he wouldn’t want to have to give up something that benefits him. He’s not like those filthy potheads who wake up everyday and wonder how they can get school kids to smoke crack. Give me a break. At the very least, do a better job masking your hypocrisy. Come on. They must assume that everyone is as ignorant as they are.

The author of the source article commented wonderfully on Kennedy’s rhetoric, “That argument can be challenged on practical and moral grounds. If marijuana is a substitute for alcohol (as some evidence suggests), legalizing it could lead to a net reduction in drug-related harm. And even if you accept the paternalistic premise of the war on drugs, it does not seem fair to treat suppliers of one drug as criminals while treating suppliers of a more dangerous one as legitimate businessmen.”

I love marijuana. I sometimes enjoy alcohol. I know which is safer (pssst, it’s the same one science thinks is safer). I hope that after the United States fully embraces legalization, the Project SAM board of directors holds a pyre for all their failed bullshit.
