Weedist Joint Stash 2, Source: Prospero

Its gonna be a good summer…

It’s been about a month since completely harvesting my own crop of bud grown in my studio apartment in Denver. The entire experience was a great opportunity to learn about growing marijuana and was a lot of fun, as I got to literally watch cannabis plants grown before my eyes.

The final crop can be seen in week 14 of our regular series here on Weedist (links for the entire grow series are below), which we concluded after the bud was harvested and the light and ballast packed up. I’ve since moved out of the apartment where I had my kitchen closet grow operation (and still waiting on my security deposit, which is sure to be less then the full amount after I drilled quite a few sizable holes in the closet) and don’t have plans to grow again in the (immediate) future.

However, I did want to share one last thing with my fellow Weedist here on the interwebs.

As the pictures a few weeks ago showed, I had a pretty great crop overall, but there weren’t a ton of huge nugs. Most of the bud was a bit on the “larfy” side, with not as much density as I would have liked. Since it was a first time grow, I wasn’t expecting to get High Times worthy looking nugs right away. I was thrilled I got as big of an overall yield from such a small space that limited the height the plants could really get. One of the biggest reasons I’m waiting to get another grow going is because next time I was to have something like a basement or entire bedroom where I can actually give the babies some room to really branch out and get lots of super dense buds.

I’ve already smoked or given away the most of the best looking (read: dense) nugs. With a few ounces worth of the rest, I decided the best course of action was to go ahead and get a joint roller from my local Purple Haze head shop and get going on creating my own joint stash of pre-rolled goodness.

I’ve never been great at rolling joints by hand, and with so much bud on my hands, I knew that it was going to get tedious (even if doing everything by hand was going to be great practice.) The roller turned out to be great, as just about every joint came out perfectly tight.

Over the last two days I’ve probably gotten well over 50 joints rolled; some contain a bit of bubble hash or earwax (I intentionally didn’t mark those for a great surprise when I get to it!) I got some index cards and have a crutch in each, as well, and after just a few had the right proportions down to get an evenly rolled doob.

Now I’m set with a stash of joints, which are great for summer time grab-and-go smoking!
