Growing

After over 3 weeks growing two marijuana plants in a closet in my studio apartment in Denver, I’m happy to report that the plants are healthy and showing some real signs of growth!

Nirvana from Advanced Nutrients

It seems as if the original clones have well over doubled in size. Most importantly for my intended goal of juicing cannabis, the plants are indeed starting to produce a good deal of large fan leaves, which I’ll be juicing as an immune system booster.

Speaking of boosters, at least some of this growth has to be attributed to a new nutrient I’ve decided to use. After having a meeting at my dispensary job with a sales rep from Advanced Nutrients, I decided to try some Nirvana, which is a soil booster designed for soilless/organic growers.

Nirvana contains 5 different kinds of seaweed and kelp, as well as chitins and biocatalyst, which all help root and stem strength and overall yield. I like this mix and decided to go ahead and use just 5 ml in addition to The Other Tomato base. Unlike many other nutrient supplements that are only designed to be used during bloom, Nirvana can be used during either veg or bloom.

I’m considering adding a good bloom booster in a few weeks when I start to flower the plants, but I’m as of yet undecided. Bud Candy seems like it will increase yield and flavor, but I’m not sure about adding too many synthetic nutrients, since I still plant to juice and drink the leaves.

Another recent decision I’ve made is not to use reflective materials to line the walls of the closet. After speaking to a few growers I trust, they said that the reflective stuff is mostly just to keep cops and other undesirables from seeing the light and discovering the grow. Since I live in Colorado in 2013 and have a medical marijuana red card (of which I keep both a copy of that and a copy of my medical marijuana enforcement division work badge taped up in the front door of the closet), I’m not really worry about getting busted.

Triple Diesel on the left and Killer Skunk Berry on the right, week 3 and starting to really grow!

So I have two questions for any growers out there who have been reading these posts:

Number 1- Do you have a good nutrient supplement to use during flower/bloom? Specifically, I’m hoping for something that qualifies as organic or at the least coco safe.

Number 2- Do you really think I need to add reflective materials to the inside of my closet? Is that just better to avoid detection, or do you really think that keeping the light in that way increases the quality of the final product?

Leave your thoughts in the comment section below, and thanks in advance!
