My Favorite Strains: Cinex, Source: http://www.fusionmedicalmarijuana.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Cinex-Strain-Photo.jpg

Cinex is a strain I have been seeing on my dispensary shelf for a while now and my budtender is always trying to get me to give it a whirl. The problem is, they also have had a pretty damn fine supply of Blue Dream and some Kush that I have been really enjoying.

Well, last week it finally happened. Blue Dream was sold out, my Kandy Kush was nearly gone. I still needed some bud and I looked up to see a fat jar of Cinex peering happily down upon me. Why not?

After getting this new strain home, I did the norm: smelled it for a bit, rolled a little between my fingers to get a feel for how sticky it was, looked at it under the light to see what the crystals looked like. Then came the ultimate test, smoking it!

At first, I was a little put off by the flavor. It had a grassy note to it that I wasn’t too keen on but it was mild enough to overlook. The high made any grassiness well worth it. Truth be told, I actually sort of began to enjoy the flavor after having such a nice high as a result. I had to let my ego relax a bit as I don’t normally like being as easily manipulated as Pavlov’s dog, but whatever.

The smoke goes down pretty easy and the presence of the indica is immediately noticeable. As someone who generally opts for sativa or sativa-dominant strains, that little indica buffer went a long way to keeping my feet on the ground. By that I mean the indica element helped me maintain a connection with my body and to the earth. Occasionally with too much sativa, I get bit too into my mental space and can kind of give myself a mild freakout. The indica mellows out that extremity and lets you explore the full range of sativa while giving you an anchor to reality.

Historically to achieve that balance, I have gotten two batches: a pure indica and a pure (or very strong, like Blue Dream) sativa and used a bit of each to create my own cannabis cocktail with a sativa/indica ratio that I choose. This method is still what gives me the most control, but it is rather time consuming to find the right balance each time. I found that the Cinex strain is naturally split with sativa/indica in a close approximation to my cannabis cocktails. Smoking Cinex gives me more or less the desired effect all wrapped up into one bud that I can load and smoke quickly.

It’s a good strain and for those who like a hybrid bud that leans heavier to the sativa side, I would give Cinex the old college try.
