Growing

Now that my plants are flowering, it’s time to do some sexing. Not knowing the physical difference between male cannabis plants and female ones, I had to do some research.

My sources on sexing included various website, and even Lakota’s post. I learned that female plants will have little pistils at the joints of the branches. Unlike male plants, female plants won’t have long flower petals. Instead, the two pistils are meant to collect pollen released by the male plants.

On the other hand male plants grow little flowers that look like little balls, which is pretty funny. These little balls eventually open up into a flower that releases pollen.

As you can see in the pictures, both plants have the little pistils at the joints. After sexing my plants pretty closely (lol), I’m confident both are female. I was a little surprised at this, considering how much stress the smaller one went through. I was expecting it to go hermaphrodite as can happen as a result of stress or a bad light cycle. However, both appear to be female and I’m hoping this is so.
