Aesliip’s Grow: Weeks 8 and 9, the Smell!

The smell! The smell! It is both good and bad. A few days ago, I came home from work and the whole house smelled like weed. Not good! This was bad, especially considering the plants were all the way upstairs behind two closed doors.

It looks like I’m going to have address the smell problem much sooner than I expected. After all, the Blue Dream plants aren’t even flowering yet, so it’s going to get a lot stankier. Of course, I like the smell but I can’t have the whole upstairs all stanky.

When I got into my room to see what was going on, I noticed I left the windows closed. I opened them up and the next day when I got home, I did not notice a smell. So, in order to avoid the smell going throughout the house, I will need to leave the windows open at all times. This will also necessitate turning on the space heater at various times so it doesn’t get too cold in my room.

I set the heater and fan to turn on for an hour, at three different points in the day. This will hopefully help keep the air fresh and warm. It should take care of the smell issue, for now.

The main plant is starting to reach the point where it will run out of room to grow. I expected this since I’m growing in my closet, and am satisfied to work with a “smaller” plant. However, the second plant is behind the first plant by about a foot.

Since I’m working with a smaller space, I will have to move both of them into the flowering stage at the same time. What will happen is that I will have a small plant and an even smaller plant.

I don’t mind this – this whole growing operation is one big experiment. I think what I’ll do is point the light bulbs to the smaller plant to give it a larger share of the light than the bigger one. This should allow it to catch up a bit in size.

Aside from all this, things are going well. The plants look healthy and strong. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope things keep going this way.
