Fund Raiser for the Southern Oregon Four

The most recent raids on medical cannabis safe access points in Southern Oregon on May 23, 2013 made the news across the country. I could go into the ridiculous waste of time and money spent on these raids. I could rant about the various points that demonstrate the prejudice and discrimination that was afforded my friends at the hands of their law enforcement. But, I will leave that for another day. These fine people need help. Fund raisers and support are rolling in from around the state.

Here in Potland, we have planned a very special evening for our cannabis family to the south.

On Saturday, June 29, 2013, there will be a fund raiser at Plew’s Brews, 8409 N. Lombard, Potland, Or 97203. The party starts at 7:00 pm and includes music from Cascadia Rising, Get Down Jones, Jay Mack and Big Dub, DJ Brainfood and the Libra Twins. Plew’s always has an excellent beer selection, and their food is totally delish. This will be their second fund raiser for the cannabis community.  Randy Plew, owner of the pub, hosted a fund raiser for Measure 80 last September. And, as with that event, there will be a tent set up for Oregon Medical Marijuana Program registrants to medicate out of public view.

There will be a silent auction featuring goods and services from a wide variety of businesses. As always, we come together in times of crisis to help where it’s needed. Expect to see all your favorite cannabis community brands, including Happy Daddy, UrbAge Designs, Brothers with Glass, Kush Creams and more. Beautiful Oregon photography from Claire McGee, bookkeeping services, hand crafted jewelry and a weedist messenger bag that my son wants in the worst way are just part of the incredible support we have received.

Individual donations are coming in, too. The World Famous Cannabis Cafe has already collected $200 in the jar they put on their bar. Thanks to people like John Vergados from SKUNK Magazine who dipped into his own pocket to donate to the Southern Oregon Four, we will have a raffle to help raise money.  My brother-in-law donated his portable Vapir vaporizer, and I am adding a couple of items to the silent auction from my private collection of goodies. Cliff Maynard is contributing his amazing roach art, too. We all know that this could happen to any of us who put ourselves out there to provide for patients.
