Bill in Texas Seeks to Soften Penalty for Marijuana Possession

The Texas state legislature will begin debating House Bill (HB) 184 , which calls for marijuana possession of 1 oz. or less to become a Class C misdemeanor with no jail time and a $500 fine. At present, possessing 2 ounces or less is punishable by a $2,000 fine and 180 days in jail.
