With little chance of Oregon’s HB 3371 making it through the session, legalization advocates are preparing 2 legalization ballot initiatives. A poll will be conducted to determine which initiative voters like more, and that initiative will be pushed for a public vote in November, 2014.

New York Senator Liz Krueger revealed a draft of her bill “Marijuana Regulation, and Taxation Act” last week. The legalization bill resembles Colorado’s Amendment 64, allowing 6 plants for home growers. Marijuana would be regulated by the New York State Liquor Authority and taxed up to $50 an ounce.

Washington DC council members Tommy Wells, mayoral candidate for the District of Columbia in 2014, and former mayor Marion Barry are drafting a marijuana decriminalization bill. The bill could be introduced as early as this summer. Fellow council member Anita Bonds is also considering introducing a decriminalization or penalty reduction bill.
Representative Corey Wilson wants to amend Maine’s marijuana legalization bill to limit statewide marijuana growing to 10 centers, and one single distribution service.
