Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has yet again rejected a proposal to put medical marijuana up for a vote in the state. For the sixth time, McDaniel used ‘ambiguity in the language’ as an excuse, saying it wasn’t clear whether patients could grow their own. To his credit, he also points out the contradiction of ‘non-profit’ collectives, which is a business model that has been repeatedly attacked by the feds because of the legal grey area those collectives inherently inhabit.

If such a proposal ever makes it past McDaniel, the group can then begin collecting signatures and the people of Arkansas can finally decide whether or not they want to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes. If McDaniel keeps playing this game, the people of Arkansas will need to vote him out as Attorney General if they want to offer a safer, more effective medicine to patients with a wide variety of illnesses.

If you live in Arkansas, please contact your public officials (from City Council members to Congress to Mr. McDaniel himself) and let them know that medical marijuana should at least be decided by voters, not by the Attorney General. Please remember to be polite and respectful in your requests; you can catch more flies with honey, as the saying goes.
