MPP Urges Boycott of Holiday Inn Due to Anti-Legalization Sentiments, Source: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/4b/d3/cb/4bd3cb884f4e8c4ce1db1733afa1a22b.jpgNew Vision Hotels Two, LLC, a company that owns a Holiday Inn in Frisco, CO, filed a lawsuit aimed at no less than shutting down the state’s recreational, regulated cannabis system.

New Vision is stating that a recreational cannabis shop located near the Holiday Inn has driven customers away because potential guests are concerned with crime that may accompany the establishment. The kicker? The pot shop isn’t even open yet.

New Vision is not only rubbing shit all over their own faces, they are missing a clear business opportunity. Embrace the cannabis culture! People are already getting stoned in your hotel rooms, you might as well make a buck and some goodwill off it.

Offer a complimentary bag of Cheetos or a jar of peanut butter with each night’s stay. How about a $20 mini-bar voucher? Stoners might open up that mini-bar and be unable to resist buying more items once that $20 is used up on a stick of gum and one peanut M&M. What about offering to send the bellhop out to local fast food chains for a premium?

My point is that they should stop bitching about the scant business that they might lose and try to take advantage of a whole new population of visitors who are looking for a comfortable place to have the munchies and a good nap. Time and again prohibitionist backers try to scuttle their agenda into law through loopholes. They always fail.

Get this through your heads, cannabis isn’t going back into the shadows. Deal with it.

Marijuana Policy Project communications director, Mason Tvert, in explaining the request for boycott said, “A majority of Americans want to end marijuana prohibition, and we expect many of them would prefer not to spend their money at businesses that are fighting to maintain it. We’re encouraging everyone who agrees marijuana should be legal for adults to think twice before spending their holidays at a Holiday Inn. If they won’t accept marijuana businesses, we shouldn’t give them our business.”

Holiday Inn, as a whole company, is owned by InterContinental Hotels Group. The Frisco Holiday Inn is independently owned by New Vision. IHG issued a non-statement statement more or less washing their hands of any involvement. We’ll see how long they can remain silent if the boycott reaches high enough levels.
