I will be the first to admit that this spine with organs glass pipe is very strange, some may call it obscene (to any offended, I redirect you to my previous post). Whatever you may think, I know a lot work went into this glass piece.

Spine With Organs Glass Pipe

I have never seen this pipe in the flesh (who could resist!), so I don’t know if this is indeed a fully functional pipe, but it sure does look like you can pack a nice fat bowl in the heart… hellasweet. If you happen to have seen this pipe personally, please drop a comment below, even better if we can give credit to the artist. Update: The artists is Andrew Morris and his piece can be found at Green House Glass in Richmond, VA.

What I find most interesting about this piece is that the artist has done a good job of representing human physiology in hand blown glass. There are some obvious simplifications seen in the scale of the small intestine and size of the lungs, but overall this piece has the feel of something that might be sitting on the shelf in a college biology classroom, at a very cool college. Except for that shrunken-head looking skull thing at the top of the spine. The first question I would have for the artist is: “what’s with the little head?” Think you know? Tell me please.
