Critical Mass

At this point in cannabis history, many more people have started to talk about CBD, the non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in marijuana, for its incredible pain relieving and illness-preventing uses. Long before any CNN medical report or even the United States government’s patenting of the compound itself, CBD has been helping people to stay free of pain and in many cases, much more healthy in general.

Strains of bud that are high in CBD are great because the effect is very unique and a bit outside of the “indica=body high/sleepy feeling” or “sativa=energetic effect” spectrum. In my opinion, the best CBD-specific strains have more of what I like to call the “narcotic pain relief” effect; it’s definitely more of an indica feeling with that great couch lock effect we all know and love, but with a numbing feeling similar to a mild muscle relaxer.

Unlike many of the prescription pills that will give you that effect, however, all weedists know that marijuana is significantly less harmful and won’t permanently damage your brain! So that’s why a strain like Critical Mass is one that certainly makes me happy that I live in a state with medical marijuana. It’s amazing the difference versus a strain that is high in THC.

A cross of Afghani and Skunk #1 (both indica strains), the well-grown Critical Mass I’ve seen in Colorado medical marijuana dispensaries had very tight bud structures and a sweet but slightly peppery smell. A well-grown batch of this strain will definitely have a very high CBD content that should create the incredible body high effect that tends to be long-lasting and effective. (I’ve written about good CBD strains before, and am an especially big fan of dabs with shatter or wax high in CBD.)

Critical Mass is a strain that I find particularly well suited for big joints or blunts, as it’s a sweet tasting smoke that burns well and even; a recent big joint of Critical Mass felt like smoking straight-up pain reliever, and after the session, my body felt incredible.

Many high CBD strains are not only great for pain relief, but when they are lower in THC, provide a fairly functional high that doesn’t have too much of a psychoactive effect, while still doing what they need to in terms of a good body high. Critical Mass is truly medical cannabis that proves marijuana for pain relief is a safe and effective option.
