Sasquatch Glass Beehive
This week’s Piece of the Week creator is not just a hometown artist— he is also the recipient of the Best Glass award from the High Times Seattle Cannabis Cup. Color me stoked to share with you the truly unique Sasquatch Glass Bee Hive. Ill base, right? It is absolutely the first thing that caught my eye.
Typically, I’m a percolation whore (and this thing is a beast btw) but I’ve got to talk about the base first. The essential cradle for this rig has a small footprint, perfect stability and a nice heavy feel. When I first saw one of these at Fweedom my immediate thought was, SICK party pipe… snug and stoner-proof for torching or packing, and ergonomic for passing and ripping. The aptly named Beehive is so simple it really is brilliant. Downstem diffuser to conical can with a nice relaxed neck (pretty basic in theory) but then I saw this bitch stack. The combination of beautifully punched perc holes and the constriction of the narrow base produce something magical. I could barely believe my eyes when I saw it stack clean water, but then I saw milk. BONG! This thing has it all going on— right down to easy maintenance.
Sasquatch Beehives are the ideal investment for the all-around smoker. It’s probably the most “right now” piece I’ve seen yet because of its core efficiency and backwards compatibility for flowers. The timing could not be better for what I’m dabbing dubbing the “errlvolution”. These guys are totally easy to prep, smoke and pass—a huge benefit for noobs. Also, the Beehive is completely un-offensive aesthetically, and pretty damn sexy if I do say so myself. With marijuana finally earning its long deserved place at the bar (pun completely intentional) smokers need to be ready for new audiences. We need more pieces like this—universally eye-catching pieces that welcome rather than deter. Skulls, demons, guitars, unicorns, shamrocks, etc.—those things rock, but they don’t have a mainstream place (not to rehash an old point Stoner Chic).
I’ve probably seen about 30 total by now and the glasswork is always top notch and consistent. Kudos to Sasquatch on the well-deserved victory and for his truly original pipe-work; I can’t wait to hit one of these. Way to rep the #seattlestoners.
