Smokies Toke Couture was founded in 2012 by artist Pilar Erika Johnson. She was looking for cannabis accessories and found that there was not much selection. Johnson says,

“I really did not find much available that had the quality or on-trend style that I was looking for. My conclusion is that female cannabis users are very under-served in the fashion arena. Many items currently being sold in the marketplace are either created for men, or are a novelty type product, skimping on quality.“

And, so, an idea was born. Using her experience making bridal headpieces, Pilar began experimenting to create designs that were unlike any others in cannabis fashion.  Her designs incorporate feathers, crystals, vintage jewelry components  and more for the discerning canna-fashionista. They have received rave reviews and a good response when Johnson began selling them online. You can find them here on Etsy.

She plans to expand in 2013. Laser cut accessories from her own illustrations, apparel, men’s accessories, printed paper goods, and house wares are all in the works.  Several of her upcoming medical cannabis pieces will donate a portion of their proceeds back to marijuana advocacy organizations. She is also seeking retail partners to distribute her line.

Seen at NORML conferences and in Amsterdam at the Cannabis Cup, Smokies Tokes Couture is perfectly poised as a new business that openly supports the cannabis community. Several of her fans include board members of NORML and the NORML Women’s Alliance.  As a proud member of that community, I am thrilled to see cannabis and high fashion come together so beautifully. Smokies Tokes Couture offers a wide variety of accessories for the fashion conscious stoner chick in all of us.

I am especially fond of the crystal and rhinestone earrings. I love it that there are so many selections in silver, and I am a big fan of that vintage flair. From simple hair pins and earrings to beautifully flamboyant head pieces, Smokies Toke Couture has something that you gotta have!  Check it out!
