Scumbag Steve would pull that shit.

The marijuana language is a language Weedists may use as we refer to ourselves and what we do. Over the past weeks, it has been my goal to document the various terms and slang I have learned over the years so that we can share this “dialect” together. Check out part 1 and part 2.

Developing and sharing a system of slang and jargon helps define the sub-culture, and is not limited to the cannabis culture. Think of the coffee obsession in America. A barista needs to know what to do when they hear “iced single venti mocha, no whip,” just like a Weedist will want to know what’s going on when they hear “let’s hotbox this dime bag I picked up.”

7. Dime
Noun
A unit of measurement for marijuana. Typically refers to the amount of weed ten dollars can buy: “I’m gonna pick up a dime bag for the concert tonight.”

8. Eighth
Noun
A unit of measurement that refers to an eighth of an ounce, or about 3.5 grams: “Get me an eighth of dat purple diesel!”

9. Hotbox
Verb
The idea of smoking weed in a tight, closed, location such as a car or closet in order to create a haze of smoke, and increase the amount of THC inhaled: “We hotboxed my friend’s laundry room and damn, I got really high!”

10. Pick up
Verb
The process of acquiring marijuana: “I’m gonna pick up an eighth of blue dream today.”
