In some countries you get stoned to death for wearing the wrong clothes, and in some countries you get life in prison for being a journalist. And in America you get your entire life ruined for a tiny amount of pot. So in the scheme of things, 6 months in a foreign country isn’t that bad. At least it could be worse.
