In a great article on Ladybud, Angela Bacca recalls the events of the recent raids in Oakland, when DEA agents moved to shut down Oaksterdam. Jose Gutierrez, a journalist with KPFA, was targeted and beaten by agents in a ‘distraction’ tactic used to regain control in riots. Gutierrez now faces charges of assault on a federal officer, apparently for hitting DEA agents’ fists with his face.
