New York Medical Marijuana Plan Is a Joke

New York’s upcoming medical marijuana program will look nothing like California’s, where “green cards” may be issued for everything from insomnia to headaches. Instead, as advocates argued on Tuesday at Hostos Community College in the Bronx, the highly restrictive program will allow medical marijuana for only “a handful” of New Yorkers with certain conditions, and even they may have trouble accessing the state’s few dispensaries.

Virginia: Lawmakers Quash Decriminalization Effort

By a margin of nearly 3 to 1, voters in the Old Dominion state say that they support amending Virginia’s marijuana penalties—penalties that rank among the toughest in the nation. Yet, on Wednesday, members of the Senate Committee for the Virginia Courts of Justice voted by a margin of 2 to 1 to reject legislation that sought to do just that.
