Needless Victims
Cop Sexually Assaults Teen Caught With Weed, Avoids Felony Charge and Keeps Law Enforcement Certificate, Source: http://photographyisnotacrime.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/560x300xCory-Cooper.jpg.pagespeed.ic.b4GU11_tGx.jpg

Nebraskan officer, Cory Cooper, sexually assaulted a teenager after discovering cannabis.

Prohibition is responsible for many horrible instances of human rights abuses, and the sexual assault of a teenager at the hands of a cop who used a small amount of cannabis as an extortion tactic, is a sickening example.

Nebraskan law enforcement officer, Cory Cooper, discovered a small amount of cannabis during a traffic stop, and proceeded to use it to extort a teenager into performing sexual acts on him. After forcing her into the back of his patrol car, trapping her there, he ordered her boyfriend, present at the time, away from the scene and made him wait while the officer assaulted the teen under threat of arrest and the jailing of her boyfriend.

Horrifyingly, the rapist cop took a plea deal and will not be charged with a felony conviction (as he should have been), will not have to register as a sex offender (as he should have to), and at the time of this writing, he is still a certified law enforcement officer in Nebraska (though he was fired from his position as deputy). He will be sentenced in June, and reports say that he is expected to serve a mere six-months in a jail where he reportedly knows the staff and will be separated from other inmates.

This is a slap on the wrist. Initially, Cooper was facing 25 years in prison for felony first-degree sexual assault and his proven attempts to cover up the crime by tampering with evidence. Once again, the court systems have failed victims of sexual assault by administering such a light sentence to this predator.

The prohibition of cannabis was a tool in the hands of this rapist that helped him sexually assault this young woman. While a predator like this will find any excuse to be an abuser, the unjust and criminal prohibition of the cannabis plant was the catalyst in this situation that allowed him to extort and rape this young woman.

This deplorable incident is another example of the many ways the drug war has been used to excuse countless crimes against humanity. We shall soon see how the sentencing plays out, and can only hope that this rapist’s law enforcement certificate is revoked. Regardless, it would appear little justice will be served in this abhorrent case of abuse.
