This weekend, actor Woody Harrelson was the guest host on NBC’s long-running sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live. SNL has always been known for its cutting-edge humor and social satire, and this latest installment was no exception.
While the show is always known to poke fun at politicians, current events and entertainment, this particular episode was chock-full of marijuana jokes. It was apparent from the opening monologue that pot was going to be a recurring topic, as Harrelson seemed to be playing stoned while singing Taylor Swift with his Hunger Games co-stars and talking about drug use.
But it was a pre-taped segment that really spoke directly to weedists. Titled “New Marijuana Policy,” the sketch had just about every stoner stereotype imaginable, including the hilarious call to action at the end of the sketch. The entire episode, which also featured musical guest Kendrick Lamar, was a solid effort from a notoriously hit-or-miss show. While Saturday Night Live has always had a fair share of great bits on marijuana dating way back, this latest episode certainly showed that it’s moving more into the mainstream.
