Consumption

My Favorite Strains: Recon, Source: Original Photography by Phe HarphaRecon is a very special strain to me because I know it will always have my back when experiencing pain from rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia (since I do not take pharmaceuticals for pain anymore, unless in extreme and dire need for relief). But when I have Recon in my jar, I know all will be okay after medicating and I can get back to my daily routine.

Recon is a sativa dominant hybrid strain, but due to the cross of an Indica father, the Cannadential strain, this strain can affect each consumer differently, in my opinion. Some will feel that strong 70% sativa effect, hard hitting and energizing from the L.A. Confidential mother traits, whereas others may feel the 30% Indica traits and feel more of a pain reliever, meditative effect. But I think everyone can benefit from this expertly crossed strain. I feel a perfect mixture between the sativa and indica effects personally; both a mellow head change and revitalizing body buzz. But be aware, this strain rumors to hit highs of low 30%  THC, though the average range being more of 23-25%, it can really pack a punch if taken in moderate to larger doses.

Upon first inspection, the taste and smell profile of Recon are of two extreme opposites. The terpenes give off a great hint of sweetness, almost a grape or apple fruitiness but mixed with a musky-pine on the back end of inhalation. As you exhale a smooth, haze-esque, earthy skunk quality shines through too. Again, showing off both sides of her heritage. Her flowers are beautiful also… a healthy array of greens with a hint of purple on the tips of buds. The smaller trichomes, almost a sugary texture, gives a lustrous sparkle to these flowers, which are also covered in a nice blanket of dense, thicker red hairs.

The effects of Recon hit me as soon as I exhale; almost evocative of how deep-breathing exercises relax you after a few deep breaths. Within minutes of medicating, there is an all-over body relaxation effect. One that can go either way. You could either decide to use this time for some R&R, get some yoga time in, go out for a nice nature hike with friends, or even take a nap on the couch.

As I mentioned above, I’m a long time sufferer of rheumatoid arthritis, as well as muscle and nerve pains. Recon allows me to “just say no” to pharmaceuticals for first action measures, and gain control of my symptoms better than getting myself into an opiate induced fogginess. I recommend Recon for suffers of most types of pain, as well as insomnia (due to meditative attributes), eating disorders (one side effect is increased appetite for sure), and common stress relief to more severe anxiety.

Also, due to the sativa/indica balance, one shouldn’t need to worry about paranoia or grogginess from Recon, leaving it great for a 24/7 use period. Overall, she’s a great example of proper breeding technique for a prime and true medicinal herbal treatment and should be checked out by all, especially those in chronic pain who wish to lead an active lifestyle.
