Falcons Rookie Hageman Caught Searching for Weed on Instagram

Now, you might be wondering what cannabis has to do with NFL football, aside from making bearable to watch the sport (just kidding football fans!). Well on Sunday, rookie Falcons player Ra’Shede Hageman, got caught trying to score some weed from one of his followers on Instagram. If you’re a famous NFL football player trying to be discrete about your cannabis use, you may want to think twice about asking for a weed hookup on social media.

The loyal follower, likely excited to have had such an interaction with an NFL player, faithfully saved the Instagram conversation, which was then found and uploaded onto twitter for all to see. Yup, sounds about the speed of things in our social networking era. Hageman confirmed that the posted messages were indeed sent from his account, but he denied having sent them, claiming he had been hacked.

Whether or not the messages were sent by Hageman is unknown, but we can consider what is more likely; some hacker decided to ‘set up’ Hageman in attempt to sabotage his career (because NFL players totally don’t get away with anything), or Hageman and his team were actually trying to find some herb. I’d guess the latter. One thing is for sure however, once the media has it, everyone is going to know about it.

After the buzz that Hageman’s Instagram messages stirred, Falcons coach, Mike Smith, decided to give him a stern talking to. “I’ve had a conversation with Ra’Shede,” Smith said. “Like all my conversations (with players), I’d like to keep that between Ra’Shede and myself.”

Maybe in that private conversation, Smith was sharing his connects with Hangman, so he wouldn’t need to ask on Instagram anymore. Whatever the case may be, it is likely that nothing more will come of this debacle.
