Ban Chocolate, Keep Dogs Safe, Source: https://www.visitbutlercounty.com/sites/default/files/media/photos/events/chocolate.jpg

DEA administrator Michele Leonhart, desperate to stop the cannabis legalization movement, attempted to pull on our heartstrings by declaring that cannabis is a killer… of dogs. Despite the fact that this is most likely a blatant fallacy, there is another reason why this pathetic attempt remains ineffective, and it’s the same reason people keep prescription medications in the same home as their infants.

It’s called being responsible. Although anti-marijuana advocates like Leonhart would like to have us all believe that cannabis consumers are lazy, irresponsible buffoons, it simply isn’t true.

The pothead puppy owner is going to be no less cautious about the well-being of her beloved pooch than any other. If marijuana did pose a threat to canines, it would simply mean keeping it out of reach; just like the legally prescribed pills, the over the counter drugs, the bleach, the detergent, and, yes, the chocolate.

Surely Leonhart isn’t suggesting we ban chocolate in order to keep the dogs safe? No, of course not. This is merely the ill-thought-out notions of someone who is desperate to find something, anything to convince people that marijuana is dangerous and should be illegal.

Rest assured, our four legged friends are safe and so is cannabis. Reefer madness can’t touch us anymore.
