My Favorite Strains: Presidential Kush

With so many different kinds of great herb available to medical marijuana patients who live in a state with high quality dispensaries, it constantly amazes those less informed about just how many different strains exist. For years, weed was just weed that all smelled and looked generally the same, but this is just no longer the case; there are many strains that have incredibly distinctive flavors, smells, and especially effects.

One of the best examples of a very distinctive strain is Presidential Kush.

I’ve seen Presidential Kush (or just “Presi” or “Presi Kush”, for short) in a few Colorado medical marijuana dispensaries and it always has a very unique smell, like sweet pickles or garlic relish maybe. Or buttered popcorn, slightly burned.

I’ve seen smaller nugs from most batches, but always with a nice density that can be deceiving. Over the many batches I’ve encountered in the last few years, I can’t remember too many that had monster nugs. However, I really don’t think that bigger nugs are better- sure they might look more impressive, but it’s all going to have to be ground down to get smoked anyway!

A cross between OG Kush and Lemon Skunk, some medical marijuana patients in other states might find this same strain called Lemon OG Kush or just Lemon OG. While most definitely a hybrid, every Presidential Kush that I’ve tried has had a sativa dominant effect, with a great heady high with little noticeable crash.

This should not be confused with Presidential OG or any number of other strains with some Kush in them that still lean towards the sativa side of the spectrum. I have heard about Obama Kush from California and Oregon medical marijuana patients, though I can’t say that I’ve seen it myself; it’s easy to see why the “Presidential” title could get confused after they dubbed that particular indica strain after President Barack Obama.

The Presdential Kush that I speak of is an incredible strain because it’s a sativa dominant with an uplifting feeling, very unique sweet taste, and typically very keefy nugs (which all Weedists know means more ready to go THC!)

Next time you’re at your favorite medical marijuana dispensary, when in the mood for an amazingly consistent sativa dominant strain that is good for pretty much any time of the day, ask for Presidential Kush.
