More instrumental than lyrical, Mythos is the perfect music for relaxing, going for a stroll or activities like reading, writing or drawing.

The musical style of Mythos can be described as ambient, surreal, new age and ethereal. It contains hints of jazz, classical, gospel and other various world styles. Most of the songs feature a guitar and piano core, with guest instruments and vocals making appearances here and there.

I was walking in the park listening to the Purity album, when I realized I had found another gem. The particular song that was playing at the time, “Alten Mara,” propelled me into a flurry of imagination. This train of thought got a little wild, so bear with me.

On this temple, were priests and priestesses of a cult, who were engaged in some kind of diabolic ritual to call down a meteor from space. I imagined it could be a fictional story about the Chicxulub meteor that hit earth and wiped out the dinosaurs. I went off on that tangent for a while, until the next song came and propelled me to imagine another strange story.

That’s what I like most about Mythos: their songs bring out my imagination. I mostly think about ancient times, since Icarus makes me think of Greek mythology; Andalucia makes me think of ancient Rome; and the song Purity, along with Alten Mara, makes me think of the ancient Aztecs.

When I listen to Mythos, I can’t help but think up cool stories and scenarios that could be set to the same song I’m listening to. If you have an active imagination, you’ll likely enjoy their music as much as I do.
