Great Video Games While High: Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition

Mortal Kombat is old enough to drink. That would make me feel really old if the game didn’t still make me feel so young. The game kicks ass until this day and when I saw the reboot on sale for 75% off during Steam’s annual Summer Sale, resistance was futile. For those not familiar, Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition is not a new game. It is the 2011 reboot with all of the later released DLC pre-installed for convenience. Mortal Kombat 2011 was wildly successful thanks to a wise decision to return to the gameplay format of the arcade original, albeit with present day gfx. This was a welcomed change, as Mortal Kombat had gotten entirely too complicated for me, especially stoned. Diablo started with 5 buttons and 1 quarter, now there was 10 buttons and 3 fighting styles. Pretty sure I didn’t have the patience for that shit when I was 11 let alone 31- kudos to Time Warner for getting this reboot right.

The story mode specifically is where I would like to direct stoned attention. Does anyone remember the movie from 1995? Mortal Kombat (1995) Well imagine playing through the narrative of the movie. You’re watching the timeless MK story play out, with the same great camp and you guessed it, BOOM when it’s time to fight YOU fight. BONG! This play format got its hooks into me right away while I was operating on some solid Sativa. Old school strain for an old school video game; it was a Sour Diesel shatter kind of night. By the time I heard my first FINISH HIM! I was writing this post. It is worth noting and commending modern day hardware for the experience. The ability to make seamless transitions between video sequences and live gameplay used to be science fiction. This kind of look and feel seems designed for MMJ. Diablo is proud to endorse a reboot for a change. Any fan of the game from any generation is encouraged to take a toke and rip somebody’s head off. EXCELLENT.

A fun postscript: on the way to bed I walked past a basket I keep my assorted video game controllers in- right on top was a TV Games edition of the classic we all grew up on. I highly recommend them for any nostalgia fans #ligthersup
