According to an annual Consumption Habits poll conducted by Gallup last month, the percentage of U.S. adults who have tried marijuana is 38%, an increase of only 5% since 1985. This data is compared to 34% of adults in 1999  and 33% in 1985.

The Gallup poll also revealed that only 7% of the adults polled say that they currently smoke marijuana. Gallup also found that adults between the ages of 30 and 64 are the most likely age group to say they have tried marijuana.

Other survey findings: More men are more likely than women to say they have smoked marijuana. Liberals are also more likely than conservatives to have tried pot. And the percentage of young adults are trying marijuana has declined by 10% in the last fourteen years.

The findings indicate that middle-aged people are the most experienced with pot. But there are still more young adults than middle-agers who will admit to smoking pot, in spite of MMJ movements.
