Cannabusiness

Wecanna was one of the few companies chosen by the Archview Group for funding in their meeting in Seattle on April 29th, 2013 and the web is abuzz, even though the company isn’t even fully-functional yet. And for good reason.

Imagine being able to fund a project without the tiring search of finding private investors or planning numerous fundraisers. Wecanna makes this possible. They are a crowdfunding site, like Kickstarter and Indigogo, but with a twist: all ideas must be cannabis or hemp related. However, due to its complex regulatory situation, ideas cannot be directly related to the growing, processing or distribution of cannabis itself.

Steve DeAngelo, President of Archview Group (and of course CEO of Harborside Health Center) is backing Wecanna. Perchance Steve’s knack for inspiring the masses helped craft the companies taglines: “The Next Great American Industry Starts Here” and “Where We Can Grow Together.”

The idea is simple, but very powerful. Individuals and companies can submit their idea and, if approved, they create a page where they can excite others about their idea. Once excited, hopefully they will pledge money to your cause.

Wecanna: Mock-up crowdfunding portal

The best part is, you don’t have to repay them, ever. This isn’t a loan, but rather a gift which should be repaid with cool gifts related to the project. For example, if you want to create an all-organic hemp product, you could give people samples of the product as a thank you for helping make your vision become a reality.

The industry is changing. More and more people are realizing the potential of hemp and cannabis to change our society. And Wecanna will become a crowdfunding platform for motivated individuals to get the money needed to execute on their innovative ideas.
