After 8 episodes, the chef left the show. Due to several requests that the show be brought back, the creator of “The Medicated Chef” decided to hold several cannabis cooking contests to find the new host.

The main contest will be held February 16th at The Oriental Theater in Denver, Colorado.

The winner of this main event will win $5,000 and a contract to host the first televised season (13 episodes) of “The Medicated Chef. If you’d like to attend the final contest to find the new host of “The Medicated Chef tickets are available for $20. VIP tickets are available for $100.

Anyone over 21, from anywhere, can enter and win this competition

Since “The Medicated Chef” will be filmed in Colorado, anyone over the age of 21 may enter. If you would like to enter this contest, make a 2 to 5 minute video of yourself crafting some medicated munchies or simply explaining why you should get the job. Fill out the contest entry form and pay the $25 entry fee by December 31, 2012.

No Excuses Entertainment will select 3 finalists to compete in the finale. Entry videos not selected as finalists will be posted on YouTube by January 3, 2013. The 2 videos with the most likes on January 10th will also qualify for the finale.

There are at least 2 (I’m told they’re organizing more right now) preliminary contests in which hopeful chefs may enter the contest for free. The winners of these preliminary contests also qualify for the finale.

I had the opportunity to speak with Thurlow Weed (creator of The Medicated Chef, CEO of No Excuses Entertainment and host of Wake & Bake With Thurlow Weed on iBake TV and iBake Radio) about the upcoming preliminary contests as well as the finale on February 16th.

Your “Medicated Chef” contest is more than just a cannabis cooking contest. In addition to the $5,000 cash prize, the winner will be offered a contract to host your show “The Medicated Chef”. Can you tell me more about this upcoming program? It will be broadcast on PBS in addition to iBake TV?

Yes. We have worked it out that it will be on Public Broadcasting Channels in Denver and we’re working on surrounding areas and states that have passed Medical Cannabis legalization as well as legalization.

I can’t wait to see it on my TV. Any word on channels and times yet? Do you get to go on before Bob Ross?

We don’t have any of that down yet. We won’t know until mid to late February.

When and where are the remaining live Medicated Chef contests?

There will be a preliminary in WA on December 15th at SONshine Organics Washington Farmers Market and one at Aj Hashmans MMJ Meet & Greet December 16th at The Baghdad Hookah Cafe in Denver.

And the winners of these live contests get a free entry into the main contest?

Yep, and 2nd and 3rd get wild card spots.

How many competitors will be in each of these live preliminary contests?

We’re looking at about 5 to 10 pre-enrolls so far at each. But we’re sure that there will be some that just show up.

It sounds like it’s going to be a great competition. How are the judges chosen?

Some are sponsors and some are well known in the industry and write about edibles, so we asked them.

Any openings?

So, if you’re in Denver on Sunday, December 16th, stop by AJ Hashman’s MMJ Monthly Meet and Greet at the Baghdad Hookah Cafe (2655 S. Broadway from 6pm to midnight, $10 door, bring MMJ card or your own bud). I’ll be there judging any entries into the competition for “The Medicated Chef“.

Check out Wake N Bake with Thurlow Weed weekdays from 8am to 10am (mountain time) on iBake TV. They always have good guests and fun things to give away. December 19th Brian Vicente of the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol will be on. I’m definitely looking forward to that show.
