Eugene Jarecki carved out his Sundance niche through his documentary Why We Fight, an investigative piece regarding the American war machine and the military-industrial complex (conservative news source Washington Times referred to Why We Fight as leftist “docu-prop,” so you know it’s good watching).

Jarecki’s newest documentary, The House I Live In, re-traced the steps of WWF: debuting at Sundance and receiving the festival’s Grand Jury Prize for U.S. documentaries. In House, Jarecki shifts the lens from American imperialism to the not-so-silent war at home, the war on drugs. Jarecki follows the war of persecution that rages within our borders, bolstering an economy that benefits drug kingpins; federal and local law enforcement and the prison-industrial complex, while destroying the lives of addicts and poor. The film is set for release in October, with screenings in New York and California.
