Needless Victims

Source: http://localtvkdvr.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/bogunovitch-edward.jpg?w=660Denver Police arrested an elderly medical marijuana patient with more marijuana than he was allowed. A LOT more.

Edward Bogunovich, 87, was arrested for growing more than 400 marijuana plants in his west Denver back yard. This is obviously significantly higher than the 6 he was allowed under CO law. According to a very brief, vague and unsympathetic article on thedenverchannel.com, Bogunovich “was charged Friday with possession with intent to distribute more than 100 pounds of marijuana, cultivation of more than 30 plants of marijuana and possession of more than 12 ounces of marijuana.”

The article did not indicate how much marijuana was actually found in Bogunovich’s home, mentioning only that “Bogunovich possessed tools and material indicative of distribution beyond personal and provider use.” Edward Bogunovich is free after posting a $10,000 bond, and is due back in court on August 16.

How many more people have to be arrested for growing a beneficial plant?

Even though this probably was not a ‘personal use’ situation, it is a situation that never should have occurred. The all-mighty dollar is very tempting for some. In fact, worse things happen in the financial world all the time. At least Mr. Bogunovich didn’t steal from (or ruin the lives of) anyone. All he did was use his gardening skills to grow what is, because of prohibition, one of the most valuable plants on the planet.
