Source: http://pdfcast.org/pdf/medical-marijuana-in-san-franciscoKCBS reports San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors is considering banning smoking anything other than legally prescribed medical marijuana at outdoor events such as street fairs, festivals, and parades.

Supervisor Eric Mar said he introduced the proposal because of the dangers of second hand smoke. “It’s widely known that secondhand smoke is responsible for as many as 73,000 deaths among non-smokers each year in the United States, and there is no safe level of exposure,” Mar said. Smoking at outdoor restaurants and near buildings and vents is already banned.

Although I don’t smoke tobacco and I do believe second hand cigarette smoke is damaging it is started to get pushed a bit far. How long until there’s a “1 mile rule” like you can’t light a cigarette if there’s a living organism or building within a 1 mile radius of you?

Having said all that, I have no qualms with medical marijuana being carved out. It is medically prescribed and cannabis is injected with tons of additives and toxins like cigarettes. San Francisco and medical marijuana go together like chocolate and peanut butter!
