The Boulder City Council will hear a proposal today that would add an additional 10% sales tax (on top of the 10% state marijuana tax and 6.3% general sales tax) and a 15% excise tax to recreational marijuana in the city. “We are taking something on that a lot of communities aren’t taking on, and that has costs,” says Boulder Mayor Matt Appelbaum in an attempt to justify such greed.
