Boston Mayor Plans to Block Dispensaries... Somehow boston-mayor-walsh-block-dispensaries Source: http://mediad.publicbroadcasting.net/p/demowgbh/files/201309/Walsh.jpeg

Boston Mayor Martin Walsh vowed to block medical marijuana dispensaries in his city at a church gathering Monday. The Pastor of the church asked if he would help block dispensaries, and Walsh responded; “Trust me, you will be working with me to make sure they don’t get here.”

Walsh claims that medical marijuana dispensaries would cause an increase in crime, which is simply not true, and believes that cannabis is a gateway drug, which is also not true.

Walsh sent a letter to officials in charge of the dispensary application process urging them to fiercely deny any applications which contain errors or inaccuracies, and called into question the credibility of the two companies planning to open in Boston.

Walsh has not always been so unreasonable about his job to implement the laws his people vote for. In January, Walsh stated that he wasn’t a big supporter of the law, but added, “We can’t stop them. As the mayor of the city of Boston, I am going to enforce the law and support the law.”

At least the mayor got something right: He can’t stop them. He can play with zoning rules and cause delays, possibly giving the operators of the will-be dispensaries several headaches, but he does not have the power to actually block the businesses.
