Instafire: Ryan Fitt Worked Dragon Klein Recycler, Source: https://instagram.com/halliday_innPosted by @halliday_inn

Have I told you that I really dig Ryan Fitt glass? The above is a pretty wonderful indicator of why. Shouts out to Instagrammer Halliday_Inn for posting this monster. Oh, wait, I guess it’s a dragon and it’s pretty friggin dope if I do say so myself.

For those unfamiliar, Ryan Fitt has really carved a nice niche for himself within the heady glass space. He takes existing rigs, like the Klein recycler pictured, and combines electro forming overlay techniques and sand blasting to achieve his results. The results are some of the sickest head rigs I’ve ever seen.

The hand formed dragon is amazing, as is every other aspect of this FULLY worked piece. However, what really gets me is the quality of the rig underneath. I can’t be certain, but I could swear this project started with a Mothership Klein Recycler.

That would mean that this project started with one of the most highly coveted and arguably best functioning rigs on the market.  It also ensures from the outset that the hit this rig gives is top flight, every time. That is certainly not always the case with functional art. Collectors gladly spend tens of thousands on rigs they know hit like crap because, alas, that’s not always the point. Some people got it like that and can buy rigs for art’s sake.

So to have what we see here is really special. This is a 420 week piece if I’ve ever seen one. Happy 420 glassheads, drop ’em hard, low and slow. #GlassLife
