Consumption

My Favorite Strains: Venom OG, Source: https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=38861&pictureid=938382I absolutely love it when a cannabis flower is SO stunning it makes me forget about smoking and totally nerd out over the beauty for at least an hour past my normal medication time. Venom OG stunned me from the beginning with her looks alone, and then lured me deeper with her taste and smell, leaving me in a stoney, yet uber enjoyable trance.

However, I will say this first as a precaution — this strain may not be for the first time smoker or the occasional consumer due to its potent effects and deep relaxation. This particular crop from one of my favorite dispensaries tested at 26.6% THC, and is high on the list for CBD concentrations too.

Venom OG was born and raised by Rare Dankness Seed company. She started off as a phenotype of OG Kush (like Ghost OG), that master weedist, O.G. Kushman, got his hands on and renamed Poison OG. Rare Dankness then bred Poison with their house strain named Rare Dankness #1, which is the offspring of the intense crossing of Triangle Kush x [(Ghost OG) x (Ghost OG x ChemDawg)]. Just typing that makes my mouth water as a Kush lover, and with this cross lineage, she’s left leaning towards a very heavy handed indica dominant hybrid strain.

The stems are small (toothpick size or smaller) and hold surprisingly dense buds.

Her colors span from darker greens in the water leaves and protective leaves that have been mostly trimmed away, to a lighter green at the body of the calyxes that are highlighted with yellow hues. Though, this could also be from refracted light off the densely populated trichomes that cover every surface — and by cover, I mean totally envelop and sheathe the calyxes with a silver and amber blanket.

The smell is heavenly lemon enhanced with the earthy “pine-sol” that every Kush fan knows and loves. Although Venom OG also has hints of lime which is not particular of OG Kush and may be reminiscent of the Poison OG characteristics. The back end of the scent carries the ChemDawg nature and allows lingering additions of some cleaner and diesel qualities.

The taste was shocking to me though. Did I just taste dried blueberries?!? I thought to myself. I take another hit, and confirm that indeed I did. This has to be from the Triangle Kush fruity sweetness mixing with the earthiness of the other parent strains. The lemon, lime and pine also carry over as the smoke escapes my lips. Overall, it is a very strong, hard hitting smoke, with a spicy note at the end, that honestly reminds me of a good curry.

WARNING: Do not smoke this as a wake and bake unless you want to take a nap after your cup of coffee. Venom OG hesitates for a minute, then lands a knock out punch having the potential to leave me, and most consumers, in a dreamlike haze. Though this strain is great in a smaller dose, I only needed 3 hits to feel her effects which ranged from pain relief to enhanced mood and deep relaxation — all at the same time.

This is why Kush’s are a beautiful thing. From her outward appearance, to her medicinal intention, no matter the name, she never disappoints.
