The music app known as 8tracks has compiled a playlist of new tracks from 2014 that users rated the top songs to listen to when high. 8tracks culled their data from 2014’s 360 million streaming hours from their 8 million monthly active listeners, in order to create this playlist.
8tracks employee, David Johnson-Igra explains, “In 2014, we had ~360M hours of streaming (30M/month). For this announcement, we filtered through the total listening hours, looking specifically at playlists tagged “Weed” (~ 14k playlists). We then pulled the top songs from these playlists by looking at the tracks that received the most favorites. To find top artists, we looked at the artists with the most singles across all the playlists defined as ‘Weed.'”
