Consumption

My Favorite Strains: Larry OG, Source: Original Photography by Phe HarphaLarry OG is one of my top 5 indica strains, and one that I have on frequent occasion in my stash pile. The cross of SFVK (San Fran. Valley OG Kush) x OG Kush allows the true “Kushy-ness” to shine, and if you’re an OG lover, you should surely try out Larry OG.

Consumer beware however, this indica strain is known for “couch-lock” potential, with THC ranging from 20% to 24% average, and a healthy balance of other cannabinoids, such as CBD and CBN. This symmetrical arrangement of cannabinoids leave this strain a great choice for superior pain relief and appetite enhancing qualities.

Upon first inspection, you can see the flower buds are concentrated with trichomes, which leave your fingers rather resinous after handling. It’s covered in very long orange hairs and has relatively dense and hard packed nugs.

Larry OG

The aroma profile has quite a few different sides; starting with a signature OG piney quality, followed by an earthy, minty zest. I choose to enjoy Larry OG by pipe form, though due to dry mouth qualities, I recommend trying it out of a water pipe if possible too. This is also why I stay clear from joints with more resinous buds, as I am susceptible to dry cough after a medication session… especially during the winter months when heaters are going indoors and there is cool crisp air outdoors.

Upon first inhalation, the earthiness comes out in true OG strain form, followed by a slight piney, lemon hint. Hit after hit, the flavor seems to deepen; almost to a Chocolope strains’ character of an “Andes creme de menthe” after dinner mint, and not that of menthol or peppermint. As a gardener and lover of all herbs, it reminds me of a chocolate mint herb species right as it’s freshly cut or dug from the soil.

Near the very end of each exhalation comes a subtle, yet recognizable creaminess to the air, as it rolls off the back of your tongue. As a side note, if you like this creaminess quality, I also highly recommend trying a Dairy Queen strain, although it is hard to come by anymore in my area. All in all, the smell and taste of Larry OG makes me smile with content as an OG strain and indica lover.

Larry OG has great medicinal effects in my opinion. It can leave you feeling relaxed, but does not give an overly sedated feeling. Rather, it has more of a mental stimulation effect, allowing for creative or right brain activity to shine, while feeling an uplifted emotional state as well. However, if consumed after a long day, I can personally vouch from experience that your time may lean towards a deeper relaxation or “couch-lock”, un-wind and de-stress mode, and usually a restful night’s sleep… which is what we all need sometimes too, right?
