Edibles

Book Review: Wake And Bake, a cookbook, Source: http://wakeandbakecookbook.com/

Since marijuana began to be sold in legal retail stores in Colorado this year, one of the biggest demands has been for marijuana-infused edibles, which are much more discreet and easy to travel with and use than raw flower. In the last several years, the vast medical marijuana industry has already seen to it that just about every single kind of food has been available at some point in the market, including, but certainly not limited to: carbonated soda, ice cream, olive oil, mini cheesecake, pixy stixx, and pecan pie.

With demand for edibles at such a high, it’s no wonder that people would want some cookbooks to make their own edibles at home, without the homemade hashy taste that you often get when you don’t know what you’re doing. That’s where “Wake and Bake: a cookbook” comes in to fill a void for those looking to make great edibles at home but who maybe don’t know exactly where to start. The cookbook is available in hard copy from the Weedist Shop.

“Wake and Bake” is the creation of Durango, Colorado-based author, cook, and farmer Corinne Tobias, who began to infuse cannabis into organic coconut oil after having an abundance of both fresh organic produce and trim at the same time. After using it to make all sorts of great vegan and organic breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods, she teamed up with childhood friend and designer Aja Kolinski to put a cookbook together to share the great recipes with the world.

They launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the publishing in late November 2013 with a goal of $1,000.

It’s no surprise the project was fully-funded in just 8 days.

Toabis’ recipes, that can also be modified for those who prefer their food with normal flower, are designed to be created with her “Green Monsta Oil” cannabis recipe.

There are all kinds of amazing dishes that honestly are great with or without the cannabis-infused butter in the recipe, from things like Pot Tarts (homemade gluten-free pop tarts!), muffins, shakes, drinks, and chocolates too. The recipes are pretty much designed for stoners, which is to say they’re simple and have relatively little steps. The book is also quite humorous.

If you like edibles enough that it might be time to start making your own, it’s a great idea to check out “Wake and Bake: a Cookbook.”
