My Favorite Strains: EWOK, Source: Original photo for Weedist.com by Phe HarphaThis strain holds the best of both worlds for me. Ewok is fruity, yet musky, sweet and pungent. Along with Afghani, Kush and Skunk genetics, this strain is yet to disappoint anyone I have shared her with. She is a 2013 Seattle Cannabis Cup winner and bred by Alien Genetics.

The Ewok genetic lineage is one I can appreciate as a botanist, cannabis lover and weedist. Together several strains come together to make the beauty that Ewok is. This includes Tahoe OG Kush and Alien Kush, making Tahoe Alien for the male counterpart of the pair. The female genetics comes from the long lost favorite Albert Walker that is bred from the cross of Afghani and Skunk. With both Tahoe Alien and Albert Walker, the spacey and multifaceted Ewok is born. Also noting her strong indica Afghani and OG nature, she is a hybrid mixed with Skunk sativa characteristics. Ewok ends up being an indica dominant hybrid at an average 60/40 split.

Her buds are deeper, grayish greens that are dense and frosted with a dense cloak of trichomes. The pistils are noticeable but not a dominate feature of the flowers, leaving the trichomes and tight calyxes to shine. As soon as I smelled her I envisioned an overly ripe citrus fruit, although it was hard to determine whether it is of grapefruit or tangerine; perhaps a blend of the two with a hint of lemon. But overall it has a musty, dankness of skunk, diesel and earth. The taste is a little different than the aroma profile though. The flavors range more from a minty pine to a nutty and earthy hash, and is a bit more refreshing than the smell suggests.

After a few puffs I realized I relaxed deeper into my chair and felt a calming wave sweep over my body. However, I wasn’t so buzzed I couldn’t write this article, or still be mentally active at 10pm after 10 hours of work.

I also wasn’t so stimulated I couldn’t relax into my comfy bed, read a few chapters of my book and sleep the night away with little tossing and turning. I awoke in the morning feeling refreshed so I decided to medicate with Ewok again before my morning yoga and the day’s work. I’m glad I did. I feel that Ewok helped manage my pain and inflammatory response, as well as reduce my daily stress and anxiety.

Ultimately, I greatly enjoyed Ewok. After knowing all the hard work that has gone into her beauty, smell and flavors, along with her highly beneficial and well-r0unded medicinal effects, I personally think Ewok is a great strain for most daily users and beginners alike.
