My Favorite Strains: Scott's OG, Source: Original photography for Weedist.com by Phe HarphaI got Scott’s OG sometime last year from a dispensary down in Denver, Colorado and really liked it. So when I was down there this past week (though at a different dispensary), I was glad to see it on the shelf again, and still with the beauty and desirable traits I remember.

The Scott’s OG strain comes from the Rare Dankness company, is a Michigan Grower’s Cup award winner, and is named after the owner and master grower of Rare Dankness, Scott. She comes from the cross of Triangle Kush (an indica originally bred in Florida) and Rare Dankness #1, which stems from a back crossing of Ghost OG x (Ghost OG x Chemdawg x Triangle Kush). And with these parent strains both being indica dominant, Scott’s OG is categorized as a 80/20 indica hybrid as well.

While I’ve not grown Scott’s OG myself, I plan to in the future, because I’ve heard some great things about her grow cycle.

  1. She grows fast, 8-9 week flowering period (50-65 days to maturation) indoors.
  2. She grows great outdoors.
  3. If grown outdoors, she is known to fully mature by the end of September.

Those three things make my brain tick with the thought of growing her outside in a greenhouse with the Colorado sunshine, and having a plump harvest before the first frost.

The color of the calyxes are dark green with hints of deep purples, along with short and stocky burnt orange hairs.

The smell as soon as you open up the jar is of pungent lemon and an OG earthy character. Along for the ride are notes of pine and mustiness. The flavor follows suit and a tri-toned profile of lemon, kush and pine dances on my palate with each inhale and exhale. As the flower starts to char, the musty notes come through, but it finishes with a crisp and creamy lemon.

After the medication session, I felt relaxed and euphoric at the same time — and by this I mean almost meditation worthy. My daily stresses melted away, along with anxiety and muscular pain. In the end I felt emotionally uplifted and rejuvenated once the deep body stone wore off. This left me to conclude, if I ever find a clone, I will most definitely try growing this great strain myself. Until then, I will savor this great medicine while it lasts.
