Weed Lifestyle

Bud and Breakfast: The 'Airbnb' of Cannabis is Here, Source: https://budandbreakfast.com/As cannabis acceptance increases with legalization every year, we have seen interesting new ways in which weed culture has developed in the realm of legal recreation.

We’ve seen weed entering the culture of marriage celebrations and the wedding industry. We’ve seen weed vending machines and even the development of cannabis culture in the high art of fine dining. It seems that weed is also starting to move into public spaces that alcohol has typically held, with cannabis lounges coming into being much like bars but with weed instead of alcohol.

And now, you can even book a vacation featuring a stay at a Bud and Breakfast lodge. The company started their business this month hoping to tap into the marketplace of cannabis themed vacations (and I’m not referring to you staying in your room zonked out of your mind all weekend).

Bud and Breakfast’s founder and CEO, Sean Roby, had previously organized tourist activities such as wine tastings and farm to table agricultural tours and experiences with his company, Taste of Travel. Now he wants to allow tourists the opportunity to enjoy cannabis on vacations much as he has done with wine over the past decade.

Thanks to Roby and Bud and Breakfast, weedists looking to get away from it all can enjoy a vacation where their weed consuming ways are not only accepted, but catered to. Much like you would lay down in a hammock outside of a rural log cabin home and enjoy a glass of wine, weedists can now search for vacations spots that are paired with weed consumption.

This a completely new direction when it comes to the sentiment of cannabis in the public sphere, now as a recreation and not a crime. Regardless of our class, income, status, etc., as weed smokers and enthusiasts I suspect we have all had the common experience of having to hide our use of cannabis. We’ve been made to feel like it’s at best a dirty habit and at worst a serious criminal habit. This development of recreational cannabis culture is a complete reversal of the construction of cannabis use as a secret habit that we have to keep in the dark.

As cannabis becomes more accepted as a recreational activity and we see these new developments in the industry and culture, we can begin to envision new futures where weed is a part of the everyday consumerist culture in the U.S.

Imagine sitting at a commercial sports event and the vendors walking around selling hot dogs and beer also offer you a joint to enjoy while watching the game. TV commercials become laden with stoner humor as they attempt to market their goods and services. Weedmaps has even created comical imagery of high end restaurants that offer featured strains for their customers to enjoy with their dinner.

With cannabis nearing the end of the prohibition age we can begin to envision all of the exciting new ways weed will be incorporated into our society. Leave a comment and let us know — what new and exciting ways do you think cannabis could be used in commercial recreation as weed becomes more accepted and recreationally legalized?
