Consumption

Strain Review: Critical Mass (CBD Strain), Source: http://mrweeds.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/2011-01-01-00.00.00-524.jpgThere are two types of Critical Mass nowadays, a regular strain and an enhanced strain. The enhanced strain has been bred with a known high CBD strain to become a high CBD strain herself.

I was happy to find the CBD strain at my local dispensary the other day. I decided to get a nice amount of it and test it out for awhile to enjoy her qualities, as well as to see if I notice a difference in using this form of CBD in relation to my pain and inflammation and other modalities for pain relief.

The particular herb that I got tested at 6.39% CBD and 3.76% THCa (3.76% potential activation to psychoactive form of THC when consumed or inhaled). As you can see it is a 2:1 ratio of CBD to THC, whereas some other Critical Mass CBD strains stay to a 1:1 ratio of about 5% CBD to 5% THC.

But because she has large numbers of all the magic cannabinoids (CBD, CBC, CBN, THCV etc), her CBD therapy potential is recognized and cross bred to make the enhanced strain. The CBD enhanced strain comes from non-CBD Critical Mass x Cannatonic which is G13 x MK Ultra.

Cannatonic, which is one of my favorite high CBD strains, along with Harlequin, is very high in CBD to begin with—8%—with a nice ratio of THC at 8.5%. Mixing the Cannatonic with non-CBD Critical Mass is one of the best crosses I’ve come across when dealing with CBD therapy. I like it because all cannabinoids are important and kept present in this strain of Critical Mass.

In my findings, you need THC to carry the CBD and other cannabinoids so the body can fully utilize the medicine and the effects they individually offer. Many people stick with pure CBD from hemp (due to legality of cannabis and hemp containing certain THC concentrations), and from my experience, it took much longer for the desired effects to be noticed and truly felt. With hemp only products I never saw my pain fully diminish like I did with cannabis THC and CBD mixed products, and science is starting to show why this may be.

After a week of consuming Critical Mass CBD strain, I noticed a lasting effect. I did not need my prescribed Naproxen, an anti-inflammatory medication, on a daily basis. I cannot say if this is because I use CBD on a regular basis, or if this strain alone works magic. I got a slight relaxing buzz from smoking this strain, but not as much as if I stuck with the non-CBD strain for sure.

Overall, this strain of Critical Mass has my stamp of approval for medicinal use and CBD therapy. Give her a chance to work her magic, and she won’t let you down mentally or physically.
