My Favorite Strains: Pleasure Island, Source: http://c786.r86.cf2.rackcdn.com/thumbs/1024x600/wp-content/files_mf/1302839730img_1985.jpgPleasure Island seemed like a uplifting and charismatic strain based on her sativa dominance alone. She also seemed mysterious when her name is taken into account, which is in books, movies and fantasy locations like in the movie Pinocchio.

I decided to pick up a few grams of this beautiful flower to share with you and my friends, and after some closer inspection I didn’t get exactly what I thought, but I’m not disappointed in the slightest either.

When I got home I started to look through resources, notes of my personal cannabis history and use, websites, old books and seed catalogs. I couldn’t find one mention of Pleasure Island anywhere, and even my cannabis filled search history in Google didn’t pick up any leads. The only fact I could find is that she is possibly a renamed phenotype variant of Great/Super Silver Haze.

I am unsure if this is factual, but her looks don’t deny this claim. The buds are of average size and fullness with a silvery look to the dense coverage of trichomes. Her leaves are more olive green than bright, fresh, or lime green tones. This makes the pistils/hairs entwining throughout her calyxes look light orange — almost pink in color.

The smell is different than her lineage would suggest, but the scents Pleasure Island buds give off are intoxicating, with aromas of full bodied and tropical smells. It conveys citrus blends of orange, lemon and lime with berries and cream on the side. There are hints of fresh cut grass or the “green” smell cannabis can sometimes exude.

She tastes as she smells, tropical and refreshing. The only thing missing from her Super Silver Haze lineage in the taste profile is the pungent, earthy, skunk that she carries to the back behind the fruity notes. Regardless, she still tastes and smokes great!

After consuming Pleasure Island, I felt like I was there. Euphoria, heightened mood and a feeling of being carefree led to feeling as though nothing could bring me down. Overall, I felt good and not too medicated to use this strain throughout the day. No stress was too big and no task was too difficult to manage, even with increased joint and muscle pains compared to normal.

Her taste was enjoyable, and her effect was magical, leading me to the conclusion that although it’s good to know where your strain comes from and what medicinal properties she may hold, sometimes you just have to try something new, and you may end up with something great, like Pleasure Island.
