Great TV While High: The Legend of Korra, Source: http://imageserver.moviepilot.com/korra-legend-of-korra-fans-demand-more-episodes.jpeg?width=764&height=476The Legend of Korra is by far one of the best shows to come out in recent years. The animated series was created by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, the makers of the original series, Avatar: the Last Airbender.

The show has gained wide popularity, coming in as Nickelodeon television network’s most-watched animated series premiere in three years. In 2015 the show won IGN’s People’s Choice Award for Best TV Series, Best TV Animated Series, and IGN People’s Choice Award for Best TV Animated Series, to name just a few.

Oliver Sava, of the A.V. Club, described the series as a “truly magnificent season of television, delivering loads of character development, world building, socio-political commentary, and heart-racing action, all presented with beautifully smooth animation and impeccable voice acting.” The show’s third season also achieves an approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series takes place in a fictional world that is organized as four nations — the Northern and Southern Water Tribes, the Air Nomads, the Earth Kingdom, and the Fire Nation. A central element of the show is the power of “benders,” certain individuals who can manipulate the four elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Bending is stylized as a spiritual and physical art, much like various styles of Chinese martial arts.

The series follows the newest Avatar, Korra, the only individual capable of manipulating all four elements. The Avatar is continually reborn in a cycle of reincarnation as a spiritual leader whose calling is to bring peace and balance to the world. The series follows the exploits of Korra as she masters all four of the natural elements and seeks to fulfill her duty as the Avatar.

The Series is separated into four books: Air, Spirits, Change and Balance. Throughout the series Korra and her companions deal with the political upheaval and unrest in their world in the aftermath of the newly won peace after the end of the war with the Fire Nation (the central event of Avatar: The Last Airbender).

The Legend of Korra is a great show to watch for weedists because of the beautiful artwork, which is largely inspired by Japanese animation. The detail of the characters, scenery and spirit creatures in the show are breathtaking. Animation loving weedists will surely appreciate Korra’s adventures as she travels to the Spirit world, an otherworldly realm full of a variety of magnificent spirit creatures which the Avatar and other spiritual adepts have access to.

The music of the series matches perfectly with the art to create a stirring and captivating viewing experience. The plot, themes and character development of the show can stand up against that of any series. Legend of Korra is definitely a must watch.
