Product Review: Julie's Baked Goods, Groovy Granola Bar, Source: http://www.thedailychronic.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Julies-Baked-Goods-Groovy-Granola-Bar-e1410266792687.jpgJulie’s Baked Goods (known formally as Julie & Kate’s Baked Goods LLC ) is one of my top favorites in the edible cannabis product market. And this is for many reasons.

They use organically grown cannabis for making slow-heated, strain-specific cannabutters and cannabis coconut oils that are then clarified and lab tested for quality and potency of THC, including which cannabinoids are present in each strain and their percentages as well.

They are also gluten free, GMO free, use no refined sugars or pesticides, and only use organically grown products. What is also nice, is that the product is well dispersed throughout the state of Colorado, and can be found in most major cities and known dispensaries for both medical and recreational consumers. Though do be advised that the total THC content and dosage varies from medical to recreational packages. Find personal dosing information here.

The Groovy Granola bars that I like to enjoy during a camping trip or in the morning with some yogurt, has a perfect dose of 75 mg THC (medical) or 5 pieces of 10 mg each, totaling 50mg (recreational), giving me the right amount of medicine to be active and have a healthy snack choice.

These bars contain gluten free granola, maple syrup, honey, coconut, cannabis coconut oil, vanilla, kosher salt and gluten free xanthum gum. It eases my mind knowing what little ingredients, and quality ingredients at that, go into my medicinal products. I usually opt for a sativa blend as my selection of choice, since I don’t like to be locked down by my edibles. Rather, I use them throughout my day with an energetic cerebral high and mellow body buzz.

Julie’s Baked Goods always has a selection of indica and hybrid mixes as well, so everyone can enjoy these great products! I say, forget the refined sugar, forget the candy  if you want to eat cannabis the right way, follow the rules of healthy eating and the proper way to ingest it.

As Julie’s and many cannabis connoisseurs already know, THC that is ingested (edibles) is processed by the liver where it is metabolized and “activated,” allowing prolonged effects past those of smoking. Also, consuming THC products with fats, such as with granola with yogurt, or another dairy product, will facilitate the digestion of the product containing THC, enhancing its psychoactive and physical effects. I do this so I can make smaller amounts of my edible product go a longer way. Instead of eating the entire 75 mg bar at once (which I don’t recommend, especially on an empty stomach) I like to split it in 3 servings and have it with a bit of yogurt and fruit. This keeps the effects heightened with facilitated digestion, but kept at a tolerable and manageable level.

However you chose to enjoy an edible form of cannabis, I definitely recommend trying any product of Julie’s Baked Goods, especially the Groovy Granola bar by itself for a sweet treat, or with vanilla yogurt and blueberries for a morning snack.
