Marvina is a high-end service for cannabis connoisseurs that will send customers deliveries of different cannabis strains to sample, as part of a monthly subscription.

The service is also available anytime during the month. Marvina offers their customers boxes starting at $95 (and ranging up to $325), and they can select between more indica heavy or sativa heavy strains. The service allows weedists to sample a variety of strains and become more familiar with new and interesting strains.

Marvina verifies that all customers are valid medical cannabis card holders before offering their services. If a cannabis subscription box service seems strange to you, remember that there are services like this for alcohol and, well, a bunch of other items you might not expect. Marvina suggests their club for cannabis connoisseurs is just the same as any wine club, or a fruit of the month club.

Dane Pieri, co-founder of Marvina, says he was inspired by his negative experiences going to cannabis dispensaries. He said he felt overwhelmed and confused,  “It’s like when you’re in the grocery store at the wine aisle; we didn’t know what to do,” he said in an interview with OZY.

Pieri wanted to create a service where people unfamiliar and uncomfortable in the weed world wouldn’t have to make so many decisions when purchasing cannabis. For Pieri, the business isn’t just about delivering weed, but about educating customers on different cannabis strains.

Every order comes with a printout that explains the strains’ effects, flavor profiles and histories. Pieri feels that Marvina is a great way to familiarize new cannabis users with different strains, and make more informed purchases in the future. He said that his goal is not to make people into stoners, but to cater to clientele that are stoners.

Having a weed service such as this isn’t going to turn an occasional cannbis smoker into a stoner. Rather, this business will provide a fun and convenient service to weedists who are already consolidated in their typical frequency of cannabis use. “People who use cannabis have pretty predictable usage patterns every month,” says Pieri.

There are concerns about the legality of this business, especially with Nestdrop recently being sued for delivering cannabis to customers. However, despite these concerns, Pieri presses on at full force, and says friends and family are very understanding of his business pursuits in these changing times.

Says Pieri, “We believe that what we’re doing is squarely in line with the California guidelines,” adding that Marvina’s lawyers have done extensive research.
