Weedmaps Advertises Itself With Hilarious Videos, Source: http://viralcannabis.com/weedmaps-the-goto-dispensary-map/Weedmaps, a website for reviewing strains and dispensaries, cleverly advertises itself by making satirical comedy videos on YouTube. The business, considered to be the Yelp of cannabis, allows users to read and write reviews on dispensaries across the country. Weedmaps founder and CEO Justin Hartfield has proven once again, that stoners can be successful business entrepreneurs. A daily toker from a young age, Hartfield managed to build an empire of cannabis businesses with $30 million per annum in revenue and growing.

“When I was five, I was given an Apple IIC and it quickly became my prized possession. I obsessed over it for a long time and became an introspective computer nerd. At 12 or 13, I got into (computer) hacking and also … weed,” Hartfield said in an interview.

He further describes his success with Weedmaps, “I started the Weedmaps website in November of 2007 and we incorporated at the end of 2009. We didn’t really start to make any money until 2010. We now have more than 4 million visitors to the Weedmaps website per month and more than 2.5 million downloads on the Android/iPhone/iPad platforms. We’re growing every month.” Needless to say, Hartfield is doing quite well with Weedmaps and represents cannabis users in a positive way.

It is a little difficult for a cannabis related business to buy ad space, so Weedmaps has had to get a little creative in its advertisements, and thankfully for us, they’re quite good at it.
