Interview: Tommy Chong on Dancing With the Stars, Smoke Swipe and More, Source: http://img2-2.timeinc.net/people/i/2014/news/141124/tommy-chong-800.jpgTommy Chong recently had a go on Dancing With the Stars, and got to show off his dance moves. I had the pleasure of speaking with him about his experience on the show, as well as his new product, the Smoke Swipe, which is designed to remove smoke odors from clothing and hair, and will be available nationwide in head shops and dispensaries in the coming months. Chong also talks about his new strain, Chong Star, which is available right now in Puebelo, Colorado at Marisol farms.

How would you describe your overall experience with Dancing With the Stars?

Incredible. [They] loved the energy I brought to the show. I brought a whole culture to the show, and then I also brought a hero for the old people to cheer for.

What inspired you to go on the show?

My wife is the dancer and the brains, and she realized she couldn’t get on it, (she really wants to go on it, she might next season) but she knew I had a good shot, so her and our agent submitted my name and the next thing I knew I got an interview. Two seasons later they called me up and said, “You’re in!”

How did you first get into dancing?

I started dancing salsa in the 90s, because my wife introduced me to it, in a roundabout way. She was a dance teacher. I realized the only way I could cope with [her dancing with others] was to learn the dance. It took me three hours. We put our dance in the show.

Was it frustrating being told not to talk about your career in cannabis during the program?

Well, I did. I tried to, I did, when I had a chance. I just kind of ambushed them in the beginning. Then they quit asking me questions. I was not the go-to guy anymore because of that. But I got my thing out there, and then when we got booted off the show I went to NY, and all the right wing talk-show people love me. So I was on a few of their shows. You know, all cannabis use is medical. Because recreation is a medical term used by the armed services. You need R & R; you need rest and recreation.

Can you tell us a little more about it?

It’s a swipe that takes away the smoke smells, and any smells. [The Smoke Swipe] is for everyone. Professional people, teachers, police, doctors, you know, anybody who steps outside for a light. It’s a cloth – comes in a package – about three inches by three inches and it’s moist. It is reusable. [You can get] 10 -12 wipes [out of one] depending on how heavy you use it. Eventually my name will be on the package.

They brought [the product] to me, and this one caught everyone’s attention. This one kind of stood out because it can be used in so many ways, for so many things, and odors on your clothes [is an issue that] has not been addressed. It’s got a nice fresh smell, not overwhelming, just sort of like a freshness smell. [People won’t be saying], “Oh my god, who’s wearing that?” You wont be banned from the gym.

How did you test the Smoke Swipe?

Well, what I did [was], I spread it out among the people [on] Dancing With The Stars. This one guy who smokes cigars, you could smell him from three blocks away. I said, ‘do me a favor and test this for me,’ and he did and it worked. Lenny [Goodman], the judge, he’s a cigar smoker and a pothead, and I wanted to get him some too. We’re going to go international with [Smoke Swipe]. We’re going to hit the world with it. And we just want to clean up America.

What else is on the agenda for you, now that Dancing With The Stars is over?

We got a [new] strain that we manufactured out of Colorado, and because of Dancing With The Stars, we call it Chong Star. It’s a hybrid, its got a little indica, a little sativa, and it’s got one of the best THC contents. The grower who is growing it is Marisol Farms, in Pueblo, Colorado.

My son and I will be traveling around – because, what I did when I was on Dancing With The Stars was – I said if I won I was gonna get everyone in America high. Then I thought, “Hey, that’s a good plan to have even if I don’t win!” I’m gonna start with all the journalists.

So I told the press, now that I’m off the show, my job is to smoke with everyone in America. And if they smoke our strain, and you know how many people there are in America… I’ll use the money, instead of trying to get rich, I’ll just spread it around and make sure all our marijuana dreams come true.
